“I Am Humbled”: Tyrese, Overcome with Emotion, Moved to Tears by the Outpouring of Support from His Fast & Furious Family at the Premiere of His New Film.

Tyrese Gibson has a brand-new film out, the drama 1992. However, for its premiere, the actor didn’t walk the carpet alone because his Fast & Furious “family” was there to support him.

Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic “Dom” Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, as well as Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty Ortiz, surprised Tyrese at the red carpet premiere to show their support. Diesel further explained his appearance when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, echoing a sentiment shared in the famous action series: that they’re all family. This has been a running gag in the Fast & Furious franchise, as Dominic treats his friends as his chosen family and would do anything for them.

You show up for people you care about,” Diesel explained with Tyrese right next to him. “Don’t we love that moment when we can show the world a representation of family? Isn’t that something we should always strive for? I’m just lucky that I can do this, I’m lucky that I have a moment to show the moment that, above all, there is nothing more important than family. I said it and I meant it.”

Tyrese Gibson joined the action franchise in its second installment, 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious, one of the two films Diesel didn’t star in, if we don’t account for his brief cameo in the third film, 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Gibson reprised his role as Roman Pearce in 2011’s Fast Five and has been one of the main characters ever since. He is set to reprise his character in the upcoming eleventh and final film.

Gibson also thanked his co-stars for showing up and supporting him on his Instagram. “I’m gonna go about this very very differently and tell you last night I was an emotional wreck because one thing about me and this is not pride or ego my relationships and my friendships with some of the most powerful and significant people out,” the actor explained in a lengthy post on social media. “[They] are not abused don’t obligate them to anything. There is no manipulation or trying to force anyone to show up for me for anything.” His co-stars surprise appearances moved Gibson to tears, and he explained, “I don’t think you guys will ever understand how FULL my heart was and how truly truly GRATEFUL I am [ and was ] that they showed for my momma’s baby boy… I am humbled and grateful beyond words.”

What Do We Know About Fast X Part 2?

The Fast & Furious franchise premiered in 2001 and has become one of the highest-grossing franchises ever. Starting as an illegal car race franchise, the series shifted towards heists and espionage with 2011’s Fast Five. However, things seem to be going back to basics, as per Gibson’s own words. In an interview earlier this year with CBR’s Kevin Polowy, the actor explained that, while he didn’t have a script, he knew that the writers were listening to all the fan feedback. Over the years, the switch to heists received mixed receptions, and fans wanted them to go back to its core themes.

I know that fans over the years have been wanting to kind of ground the film and get back to more of the street racing and get away from being in outer space and all the other stuff,” Tyrese explained, adding, “I think right now they’re in the basement, they’re riding, they’re cooking, they’re really trying to pull it together, to make sure that the fans can show up and really enjoy the film.”

Fast X was the first film in the action franchise to end with a cliffhanger, and it will be directly tied to the upcoming installment. So far, details about its plot, title, and release date are scarce, but it’s believed to wrap up all the loose ends in the series, with the franchise focusing on its announced spin-offs. Amid several delays due to 2023’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the upcoming Fast & Furious installment is set to begin filming in early 2025 and tentatively scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2026.
