THE convicted killer, jailed for murdering her boyfriend and a friend in a 100mph crash, sent him sick texts about sugar daddies and being “paid to please a man” in the months before his death.
Mackenzie Shirilla’s case has returned to the spotlight following the success of the Netflix documentary, The Crash, which is now number one on the streaming service.
Viewers have been left in disbelief after discovering key details were omitted from the film, which features Shirilla, 21, breaking her silence as her parents defended her and were later slammed as “enablers.”
Shirilla, who a judge branded “hell on wheels,” is serving 15 years to life after driving her car into a brick wall at 100mph, killing boyfriend Dominic Russo, 20, and friend Davion Flanagan, 19, on July 31, 2022.
Investigators in Strongsville, Ohio, later concluded the crash was intentional, citing evidence that Shirilla never lifted her foot off the accelerator and left no skid marks on the road before impact.
Shirilla maintains her innocence and claims she blacked out and doesn’t remember anything.

Now, newly uncovered text messages paint a disturbing picture of the couple’s volatile relationship — filled with threats, manipulation, and messages in which Shirilla appeared to reference having sugar daddies.
Detectives examined roughly 93,000 text messages exchanged between Shirilla and Russo from January 2020 through July 30, 2022.
The U.S. Sun reviewed the messages, which were released in a 31,000-page document, including an admission she let a man engage in a foot fetish act “for money.”
In one text, sent on January 25, 2022, Shirilla writes to her boyfriend, “You realize I’m just gonna go get a sugar daddy and start selling feet pics and I’m gonna be doing just fine so this is really your last chance to hand write me an apology or fix this or we’re really done.”
She then warns, “I’m giving you 10 minutes starting now.”
Russo shrugs off the threat, writing, “Ok go get some fake love thats short lived.”
He later asks, “A suggar daddy? I don’t get how youve come to this. I rly do love u idc how tough or relationship is im commitment rn (sic).”
Shirilla didn’t back down, warning again, “I don’t see you typing a paragraph long apology right now like I’m serious you only have five
minutes left till you’re single.”
Sugar daddy claims were later mentioned in an exchange on March 5, 2022.
Shirilla tells Russo, “You’re going to show me you can be good and then I’m going to reflect how you treat me.”
In a shocking response, he writes back, “Yea u let a dude f*** your feet for money like 6 months ago. That should be even fr.”
Appearing to admit to the illicit exchange, she replies, “We were broken up. LMAOOOAOO.”
Dominic then tells her, “We were broken up when i did sh**.”
He adds, “I mean fr tho what i did was 3 years ago what u did was 6 months ago.”
Shirilla laughs, “We were broken up and it was feetLMAOA once again THEN leave.”
Friends and family previously told investigators the pair had been dating on and off for four years and were living together.
Shirilla was left furious when Dominic cheated on her early on in their relationship and was often controlling and threatening to break up with him, harm him, or end her own life, texts show.
The topic of sex work was brought up a third time in messages between the pair from June 8, 2022.
Although he doesn’t mention who he is referring to, Dominic wrote, “Yea I love u but last time u started hanging with her u literally let her sell your body to that random dude.”
Shirilla repeats her claim, “We were broken up and it was just my feet do you think about it more than I think about it.”
Russo then blasts, “U ran off and became a prostitute.”
Shirilla again tells him she doesn’t think what she did was bad but insists she won’t do it if they are together and he disagrees with it.
He replies, “U could never tell your family u were a prostitute.”
Shirilla insists, “Because it’s only my business and it’s not a prostitution.”
The texts show Russo struggled to let the topic go, mentioning it once again on June 25, 2022.
He wrote, “Kenzie there is always gonna be problems if u hanging with
someone who got a dude to f*** your feet for money.””
The texts also feature in a report produced by the Strongsville Police Department, entitled, Outcome: Suspected Sex Offenses.
“The purpose of the investigation into suspected sex offenses committed by Mackenzie was for the purpose of confirming or dispelling the possibility of Mackenzie having been victimized and forced into committing unwanted sex acts,” they stated in the doc.
In summary, they claimed, “Messages indicate that Mackenzie voluntarily engaged in suspected sex acts with other people likely in exchange for monetary value without being forced to commit those acts.”
Other texts from Shirilla to her boyfriend showed she threatened to harm herself on multiple occasions as Russo begged her to calm down.
Meanwhile, a former inmate also made sugar daddy claims on her account ‘@boujeebehindbars’ as Shirilla serves time at Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.
Crowder said in a clip, “Mackenzie has makeup and jewelry in prison because her mom is ordering it for her… she was funding her prison lifestyle and making it as comfortable as possible.
“Also, Mackenzie is on the… prison sugar daddy website, so there’s sugar daddies, like, supplying her needs.”
The TikToker also claimed Shirilla is far from lonely in prison as she’s had several girlfriends and acts like Regina George from Mean Girls, the ruthless leader of a popular social clique known as ‘The Plastics’.
Kat Crowder said in a clip, “Yes, Mackenzie has had multiple girlfriends … she was walking around with hickies on her neck.
“She’s gone to ‘the hole’ [solitary confinement] for being intimate with girls in prison.”
Crowder also claimed she never saw Shirilla cry and walks around “like she thinks she’s gonna get out.”
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Shirilla’s lawyers for comment.
Shirilla is still fighting for freedom after a previous appeal was rejected.
They previously said, “At this point we are focused on pursuing the appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court and investigating other potential legal remedies with the goal of securing a new trial.”
