In the midst of his set, the Oklahoma native welcomed Leatherwood to the stage for a collaborative performance of “Hillbilly Bone.” The former Voice contestant held his own alongside Shelton, filling in for Trace Adkins parts in the rowdy country anthem.

“We all got a hillbilly bone down deep inside/ No matter where you from, you just can’t hide it/ When the band starts bangin’ and the fiddle sobs/ You can’t help but hollerin’ “yee-haw!” the artists sang as the crowd joined in.

Bryce Leatherwood was thrilled over the opportunity to sing with Shelton once again.

“Always an honor getting to share the stage with the king himself,” he shared on social media following the big night.

Leatherwood opened the show performing covers of country classics such as “The Fireman” by George Straight and “Whenever You Come Around” by Vince Gill. Additionally, the Team Blake alum performed unreleased original tunes like “Made Me, Me” and “The Finger.”

People’s Choice Country Awards Appearance

Blake Shelton’s performance at Ole Red Orlando came on the heels of his appearance at the People’s Choice Country Awards where he presented fellow Oklahoma native Toby Keith with the Country Icon Award.

“They say your big break comes when you sign a record deal or your first song comes out and for me, one of those things was getting the chance to open for Toby Keith,” Shelton began. “Back when I was a new artist, I got the chance to go out on the road with Toby and then night after night, 20,000 fans showed up to see Toby perform and he kept them fat and happy with a stockpile of his number one hits. Watching him, I felt the impact of Toby’s music from the anthems that spoke to the bigger things, to the songs that are full of humor and energy and the soundtrack to good times.”

Shelton also took the stage to tribute Keith with a performance of “Who’s Your Daddy” and was awarded with the honor of The Social Country Star of 2023.
