Ross Poldark (played Aidan Turner) was seen locking lips with his former beau Elizabeth Warleggan (Heida Reed) during a heated conversation with her.

Many viewers took to social media to lambast Ross for his behaviour as one person wrote: “Someone smack Ross, hard. He deserves it. Let Demelza be happy! #Poldark.”

While a second added: “Noise from living room from Jill: “Ross…ROSS. What are you doing Ross? Rossssss…… You d***head.” #poldark.”

A third posted on Twitter in exasperation: “Ross kissed Elizabeth….again….. #Poldark.”

The dashing Ross had gone around to talk to Elizabeth about getting a proper headstone for the dearly departed Aunt Agatha (Caroline Blakiston) but the conversation soon turned to other things.

The pair discussed the fated night they slept together and she subsequently fell pregnant, before he was seen going in for a kiss with her.

However, the stolen moment was seen by servant Prudie Paynter (Beatie Edeny), who was left completely scandalized by it and angered by what she had witnessed.

Later on in the instalment, Ross was imaging telling his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) about his infidelity but couldn’t bring himself to do so.

Instead, he rebuked her subtly for her apparent attraction to Hugh Armitage (Josh Whitehouse) and made digs at her.

Despite the chemistry between them, Demelza cooled things off with Hugh as she turned him down quite pointedly and told her husband her feelings for the young man.

Next week’s episode will be the season three finale and promises plenty of drama as tensions hit an all-time high in Cornwall as Ross looks set to face a shoot-off with pistols at the ready.

Also, doomed lovers Morwenna Chenoweth (Ellise Chappell) and Drake Carne (Harry Richardson) are headed for further heartache as their forbidden romance could take a tragic turn.
