World Cup worker, 22, killed after being hit by car while walking home from match as heartbroken family pay tribute
A YOUNG security officer at SoFi stadium has died after being hit by a car while walking home from a World Cup match.
Aaron Avery, 22, was on his second day of the job when tragedy struck after the Iran vs New Zealand game on Monday night.
His grieving family have now revealed that the driver who crashed into Aaron was a suspected drunk driver.
“I’m crushed because this was the last thing we would have ever thought would happen,” said Aaron’s aunt Norma Quinn.
The crash happened just blocks away from Aaron’s home near Van Ness Avenue.
His body was dragged half a block after he was hit by the car, his family said.

The driver of the white Tesla was arrested in connection to the fatal crash.
“From what I was told, it was a strong possibility that speed played a part in it, and the guy was under the influence,” Quinn told CBS news.
He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced brain dead the following afternoon.
