Police are searching for a personal trainer who was last seen leaving a gym in South Carolina last week.
Elena Katherine Moore, 39, was reported missing on Friday, June 12, a day after she was seen leaving a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, police said in a statement. NBC affiliate WIS reported that she signed in at the gym at about 6:40 p.m. local time.

Moore, a personal trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center a few miles away, per ABC News, was seen walking toward a wooded area behind a Lowe’s Home Improvement store close to the gym.
Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Silcox said, via the outlet, that it would be “very out of character” for Moore to disappear in this manner.

The department deployed a drone in the area, and on Monday, June 15, officers searched the area themselves with assistance from other emergency and law enforcement authorities operating in the region, the statement read.
“This was not a recovery operation, but rather a precise effort to rule out one less place Ms. Moore could be,” the police explained.

Speaking to WIS on Monday evening, Silcox said that it was Moore’s husband who reported her missing, and that police are not yet suspecting foul play, nor do they think that she is in imminent danger.
She added that police think Moore did have a phone with her, but that it wasn’t “pinging.”

Moore was wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants when she was last seen. She is described as being white with brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 120 lbs.
In a previous statement, police said that prior reports of Moore having been found were incorrect, adding that there is “no known vehicle in her possession.”
It had also previously been incorrectly reported that Moore was last seen at a CVS store about a mile away.
Police have urged people with potential information to contact Detective Santoro at 803-358-7271 or [email protected], or contact Midlands Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372) or by going to its website and selecting “Submit a Tip.”
“We’re just hoping tips come in,” Silcox told ABC News. “Even the smallest tip could be the biggest thing for us to crack open this case.”
PEOPLE reached out to the Lexington Police Department for updates but did not immediately hear back.
