An Alabama Husband Says The Last Conversation With His Wife Ended With Two Words He Can Never Forget — But What Happened Before He Had The Chance To Hear Anything Else Is A Memory That Will Stay With Him Forever

“Please Don’t. I Have Babies”: Heartbreaking Final Plead of Alabama Nurse Exposed in Chilling Hospital Ambush

Ada Doss, a 27-year-old mother of two, was relentlessly stalked and gunned down in a medical center parking lot while discussing dinner plans over the phone with her helpless husband.

Mugshot of Mathew Taylor, who is charged with capital murder.

A routine evening phone call about family dinner plans dissolved into a permanent, living nightmare for an Alabama father who was forced to listen to his young wife desperately beg a gunman for her life before being shot dead at point-blank range.

The tragedy unfolded outside the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Ada Doss, a 27-year-old nurse manager and dedicated mother, had just wrapped up her shift and was walking through the hospital parking lot toward her vehicle. While walking, she was chatting on the phone with her husband, Andrew, coordinating the nightly routines and meals for their two young daughters—a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old infant.

She had no idea she was being targeted by an armed predator. According to investigators, 22-year-old Matthew Taylor had been dropped off at the medical center hours earlier by a friend under the impression he needed medical evaluation. However, Taylor never stepped foot inside the emergency room. Instead, authorities say he loitered aimlessly around the campus for several hours before spotting Doss.

As Doss made her way to her car, Taylor approached her, brandishing a handgun and aggressively demanding her keys in an attempted armed carjacking. Doss tried to keep walking to evade him, but Taylor ruthlessly stalked her through the parking lot, keeping the weapon trained directly on her.

When she finally reached her vehicle, Taylor cornered her. Over the open phone line, Andrew Doss was forced to endure the agonizing terror of his wife’s final moments as she tried to appeal to the gunman’s humanity.

“Please don’t. I have babies,” Doss pleaded, her final terrified words echoing through the phone line.

Ignoring her cries, Taylor pulled the trigger, shooting the young mother once before fleeing the scene. Doss was rushed into the very hospital where she worked as a manager, but her injuries were too severe, and she could not be saved. Taylor was apprehended shortly after by law enforcement and has been charged with capital murder.

Grief-Stricken Husband Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Claiming Gross Negligence

The unimaginable horror has left the local community reeling and a young family entirely shattered. In the wake of the tragedy, Andrew Doss has filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking unspecified damages against DCH Health Care and Universal Protection Services—the private security firm contracted to patrol the hospital campus.

The lawsuit alleges extreme corporate negligence, arguing that security personnel completely failed to maintain a safe environment for staff and patrons. The filing highlights that Taylor was permitted to loiter suspiciously on the hospital campus for hours without once being questioned, intercepted, or removed by security guards, creating a hazardous blindspot that ultimately cost a young nurse her life.

While the civil suit moves forward through the court system, no amount of legal action can heal the void left in the Doss home. A dedicated healthcare hero who spent her days caring for others was stripped of her future by random violence, leaving behind two heavily traumatized toddlers who will grow up knowing their mother only through memories and stories of her final, heroic thoughts for them.
